Online School From A Kid’s Perspective

Spread the love

Hello there! My name is Srija Dangal; I will be sharing my opinions about online/virtual school from my perspective.

Online School

I’m sure that most people are aware that almost everything has been changing quite a bit due to the global pandemic (examples include shopping, going to gatherings, traveling by air, riding public transportation, etc.) One of the most impacted things being school. “Regular” school days for most students looks like staying behind your device all day, and most of your schoolwork and homework completed online. Although online school might not feel the greatest, there are benefits that we must be thankful for.

Before every school year, I am usually so excited to greet my new teachers, work in my fun classrooms, and meet my productive classmates. I was incredibly excited for this school year because I transferred from Elementary School to Middle School. (I think that is a big accomplishment). Except that . . . this year was different. Instead of having that lovely voice in your head telling you of all the great things that might occur over the new school year, all I had were questions I did not, and some I still do not know the answer to. “How will I make new friends? Will we go on field trips? Will my grades stay steady while doing this whole new different schooling?”

After the first week of school passed, I had started getting the hang of how online school worked. I learned how to use Zoom and Google Classroom. I had started completing and turning in my assignments. I was a good student and still am, maintaining good grades during this hectic time. Then I had a voice in my head that said, “You are starting to get the hang of your first year of online middle school!”

Benefits Of Online Learning

  • One of the benefits of online learning is affordable supplies. Since there is no need for in-person interaction, we don’t need the “team supplies” or the school supplies we share with our classmates. (Such as glue, tape, art paper, even tissues. Every school is different, and maybe you don’t even need to share school supplies). Some essential supplies might be notebooks, pencils, coloring tools, etc. This can save more money for families.
  • Another benefit of virtual schooling is that everyone can work at their own personal pace. I know that many people might feel rushed in the classroom. Do you ever feel like the teacher is not making any sense? Or maybe they’re talking too fast for you to write your notes, or you cannot seem to understand what they’re teaching about the concept? Well, that’s what is amazing about online school, you can always revisit the concept, or re-watch any videos, or you could even look over any slideshows or documents. This can make many students understand what they are learning.
  • Reduces Spread Of COVID-19. Now this one is one of the most important and obvious. Online learning reduces the spread of Covid-19! Have you ever heard of the saying, “It is better to be safe than sorry!”? Because most schools have been going online, there is no human interaction, which means you cannot be spreading the virus. BUT …. hear me out, WE ARE HUMANS, AND HUMANS NEED INTERACTION!!! It is always important to stay in touch, and thankfully we have the power of technology to help us. With the apps FaceTime, VideoCall, and Zoom, it is easy to see each other over a screen’s safety. If you ever do go to a gathering, make sure to distance and wear your mask!😷 (That was not really related to virtual school, just some knowledge you hopefully knew. If not, that is okay too!)

That concludes my Online School From A Child’s Perspective! Thank you for reading this article to the very end! Always remember to stay safe, happy, and healthy and wear a mask

(CNN)– “Keep calm and carry on.” “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” “Don’t worry, be happy.”

Your experience of virtual school is very inspiring to read. I hope every student who is struggling to understand this new education system gets to read this and get inspired from it.
